Weimer, Texas - April 23, 2009 – CenterPoint Energy employees recently addressed more than 80 Boy Scouts from eight troops at the Brahman District Spring Camporee and Emergency Preparedness Day in Weimer, Texas.
“The event is designed to showcase community and government emergency response as well as give participants a chance to complete badge requirements,” said Karl Burris, CenterPoint Energy area manager. “I enjoy having a chance to show young people how to stay safe around natural gas.”
CenterPoint Energy volunteers Frank Mares, Paul Supak (pictured above), Curtis Williford and Burris delivered safety messages and performed safety demonstrations on natural gas safety and how to use the easy-to- remember, national Call Before You Dig number – 811. The group also accepted a participation plaque from the Boy Scouts.
