HOUSTON, TX, May 06, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- The Board of Directors of El Paso Corporation (NYSE: EP) has elected Doug Foshee as Chairman of the company following its Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Foshee has held the titles of President and Chief Executive Officer since joining the company in 2003. The election follows the retirement of Ronald L. Kuehn, Jr., who had been Chairman of the El Paso Corporation Board of Directors since 2003. In addition, the Board elected J. Michael Talbert to serve as Lead Director. Talbert has served as an El Paso Director since 2003. He is also a director of Transocean Ltd, where he previously served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Talbert also served as Chairman of the Board of The Offshore Drilling Company, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lone Star Gas Company and President of Texas Oil & Gas Company. At today's meeting all 11 nominated Directors were elected for a term of one year. Ten of El Paso's 11 Directors are independent, as defined by NYSE listing requirements.
